When a user's payment fails, Whop has a built-in system to retry, notify, and allow recovery — without immediately canceling access.
What Happens If a User’s Payment Fails?
If a payment fails:
The subscription status becomes “Past Due”
The user receives automatic email reminders prompting them to update payment info
Discord or app access may be temporarily paused until payment succeeds depending on creator setup
How Long Does Whop Retry Failed Payments?
Whop retries failed payments over a 5-day grace period.
Retries occur automatically during this time
If payment is not successful after 5 days, the membership is automatically canceled
💳 Can Users Update Their Cards Without Canceling?
Yes — here’s how:
Click Manage next to the subscription
Select Update Payment Method
Add the new card and save
This does not cancel the subscription.
🔄 How Users Can Retry Failed Payments
If payment failed and no retry has succeeded yet:
Click Retry Payment on the affected membership
Update card info if needed
Once payment goes through, access will be restored automatically.
